Re: R26 Field Windings / Generator Questions
Flashing the generator means momentarily touching battery live wire to the field terminal. This restores the residual magnetism in the field circuit which is essentially required for the generator to buildup voltage to start charging.

Re: Difference between car brake lining and motorcycle brake lining
There is no difference in the quality of brake linings/brake pads as used on cars or motorcycles. If there is any quality improvement in the material it applies to both.

Re: overheating of R26
I did not measure the temperature of the engine as such, but I know it is overheating from the smell of the oil and the silencer turning black. Since my machine is manufactured in 1959 end, I presume all the modifications done to this model must have been incorporated. I am located in India where th...

Re: Neutral indicator light.
Hi Gerry, I have put back the R 26 gear box and I am assembling the engine to day. I haven’t faced any difficult problems. As informed earlier this is the first German motor cycle I am handling. Unfortunately this machine was opened and serviced by some one that is not knowledgeable. This is causing...

The vertical centre line of piston is slightly offset compared to centre line drawn vertically through centre of piston/ gudgeon pin. The piston is greater on one side as seen from the...

Piston - Offset Piston Pin on R26
When I wanted to de-carbonize my R26, I noticed that it has got a piston with an offset piston pin (gudgeon pin). I would like to know the theory behind providing offset piston pins. In the R26, in which position should the piston be located? I request detailed guidance in the matter. Thanking You, ...
