Re: MZ - B 12 V alternator conversion
The installation of the MZ-B kit into a /2 is more difficult. Many people have reported that the instructions are poor and some of the parts don't fit. A local restorer installed a kit in an R60US and I made these photos describing some of the problems: http://www.flickr.com/photos/roundel/sets/4667...

Re: lacing 19"wheels
Contact Buchanan's at http://www.buchananspokes.com/ and discuss your project - the bike, the kind of rims, the length and number of spokes. They will probably know what spokes and nipples you need and ship them to you. For lacing the wheel, take a look at Lonnie Walker's page: http://agwalker.com/w...

Re: Ballbearing holder gearbox
It appears that heat is required. I don't think any part of the transmission can be pressed cold. The Workshop Manual says to heat the transmission to 180F to remove the rear cover with its gear shaft bearing holders. To re-install the gear shafts, the manual says to heat the housing to 180-210F. An...

Re: Fork Oil R60us
I have an R69US. I use BMW 7.5W Fork Oil. The complete capacity of each fork is 280 cc, but 15 cc is trapped in the threaded alloy cup at the bottom. If you are rebuilding the fork, or if you drain the fork by unscrewing the cup to clean out sediment, use 280 cc. If you drain the fork by unscrewing ...

Re: Charge R50/2 battery via power socket ?
I must be mistaken in saying the socket is wired to the headlight switch, with the circuit to the battery only being completed when the switch is on. I once had a sidecar on my R60/2, and I am trying to remember what happened when I inserted the power plug into the socket on the bike. I think the si...
