Re: Carburettor tuning

Well, the R69S carbs were 26mm while the R60/2 (did you mean the /2?) carbs were 24mm. Might help if you provide the carb numbers for the replacement carbs. But for the 151/152 carbs for an R60/2, the main jet is a 125, the needle jet is 1308, and the idle jet is 35. The clip position is 3rd from th...

Help Removing Valve Cover

Bike is '52 R25/2. I have been able to remove the front cover (exhaust valve) but the rear cover (intake valve) is captive. I can't raise it high enough to clear the rocker tower bolts...hits the frame. Tilting, spinning, etc., don't help. The valve cover clamp stud is blocking forward movement. Wha...

Re: History on R25/2 - Update

Update... I've been emailing with a local person in Montabaur and was asked to submit information to run in the local paper. The article came out last week. The editor has indicated that he's going to interview several people who remember the bike or have knowledge of the R25s used for police servic...

Re: Chain wheel, camshaft - tuning type for R25/3

This is the camshaft sprocket and is a tied to #19 via a chain. These two sprockets are designed to work together and I don't believe you can change to a bigger or smaller one. The catalog offers a used and a new one. I can't interpret what "tuning" is in German. Maybe it means it's lightw...

Re: History on R25/2

Juergen - Thanks for the post. I do have some paperwork, a "Fahrkraftzeugbrief" or something like that...can't remember it right now. Not sure if that is the "paperwork" you're thinking of...is there something else I should be looking for? It has a number of pages that provide in...

Re: 1966s non matching number of frame and engine

gg -

You've probably already got this figured out. But the 50s and 60s bikes all had matching engines and frames. The frame in question came from an R50/2. See this page for a breakdown in the VINs prior to 1970.

History on R25/2

Hello - First post... I've recently acquired a '52 R25/2 to go with the rest of my "fleet". From the BMW archives, I've been told that the bike was delivered to the dealer Utz in Mainz. The motor vehicle letter (in German) that came with the bike indicates that the bike served as a police ...
