1959 R26 what oil?

What kind of oil should I use for the gear and the rear wheel drive of my R26? The previous owner used gear oil for both and I kept it like that in order to avoid an oil cocktail in there.

Hi Thorsten

The original specs from BMW were SAE 30, but these days we use Hypoid gear oil in the bevel drive and gearbox, and multigrade in the motor.
