Electronic regulator

Hi Mark,

In the installation instructions for the electronic regulator they say that I should "detach the screw connection from the exciter field coil to the original mechanical voltage regulator which was screwed to the main housing, and insulate the blank end with insulation tape. otherwise serious damage be caused."
What is the exciter field coil? and what blank end should I be looking for since the original internal regulator is long gone, and an external one was fitted.
