R26 gear oil condition.

Post by itt sangsinlert THAILAND »

Hi everyone.
I have checked the gear oil on my R26 gear chamber. The color is not clear and lots of small bubble.I'd like to know that the normal condition is like this or I already get problem in gear system.

Is the gear chamber the transmission or the final drive? How long ago did you change the oil?

The oil there should be changed at least every 7,500 miles, and preferably every 5,000 miles or every year. The old oil should be clear but may be a little darker than when new. It is also normal to have some metallic fuzz or whiskers on the drain plug magnet.

Your oil probably has water in it, perhaps from condensation. You should change the oil and look at it again at 500 miles. It will probably be OK.
