restorable vintage bmw's

Post by max leiber »

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Can anyone direct me to someone with bikes from the 50's or 60's in need of restoration. I'd like to find a project to restore. Thanks Max

try Mariah Motor Classics, I don't know exactly where they are in California, but I think they are between SF and LA.

Although your subject and message speak of wanting multiple bikes with make, model and year unspecified, you probably only want one bike, a BMW, for yourself to restore.

BMWs of all years in need of restoration, often on the West Coast, frequently appear on these sites:
eBay
IBMWR Marketplace
Vintage BMW Owners Classifieds

There is a Vintage BMW meet on Oct 4th at Lake San Antonio - about 2 hours south of you. For details contact me or Tom Weiss at

I might suggest that Mr. Lieber contact Mark Darwin, at Darwin Motors in SF. He may have a restorable bike for sale, or leads, as his shop specializes in /2s. Incidentally, I saw nothing ambiguous about the language of his query; and thought the response of Mr. Atherton snide.

Are you the same Max Leiber that makes fine art furniture? Please let me know a phone number I can contact you with.

He posted the message in Aug 2003. It is not likely that he is still reading this forum. Better click on his name to send him an email.
