Post by Wolfgang »

Hallo Leute,

Danke

Hi Wolfgang

The bearings in question were first introduced by BMW in 1936 with the R5. Since then, all models from the R5; R6; R51 through to R71; after the war, R24 through to the R69S all used the same steering head bearings. This is a non standard bearing which was only produced by FAG and SKF. It consisted of 2 rings with the same identification number.
FAG number was 200185
SKF number was 255243
Note that these were non-standard bearings which were only manufactured purely for BMW.
However, these have both been discontinued over 25 years ago and are no longer available. That is why we manufactured the taper roller bearing which we sell as a replacement for the old system. Our part number for a complete set is 31 42 2 000 000. This is also a non standard size bearing so you will not find it from a normal bearing supplier.

Best regards,
Mark
