I have an R69S, although its slightly detuned with R69 7.5 to 1 pistons. Over the years I have got rather fed up with the original equipment Bing carbs, as they drip fuel whatever one does to prevent it and need a lot of fiddling with to keep in top tune.
I'm interested if anyone has successfully fitted alternatives-such as Mikunis. They would need to be handed for each side as are the Bings, and throttle cables would need making, but if the bike could be made to run well it would be worth it. Anyone got any suggestions? A big problem on the R69S would be the alignment of the chrome air tubes-I wouldnt want to do away with them.
Alternative carbs.
Re: Alternative carbs.
I have five Bings on my three pre-70 bikes. I am pleased with them, as none of them drip when running or when the petcock is shut, and I have not needed to adjust them very much.
