R26 Field Windings / Generator Questions

Post by barnstorm »

My R26 is not charging.

I have replaced the wiring harness with a new one.

The original voltage regulator is missing.

I am using a new solid state voltage regulator.

I have two wires coming from behind the regulator mounting plate.

One is orange-red the other is yellow.

Is the yellow cable the Field Winding that gets attached to DF?

In my R26 1956 the batt is not charged any more. It was OK
last week.I checked the generator, conduct points, regulator
(I use BOSCH 7V 45A), ignition coil, everything seems OK.
Can anybody send me a diagram showing the connbections

Flashing the generator means momentarily touching battery live wire to the field terminal. This restores the residual magnetism in the field circuit which is essentially required for the generator to buildup voltage to start charging.
