I recently purchased a small inventory of BMW /2 parts, among them a camshaft (with all timing
gears) and a complete magneto with coil and advance unit, both used.
My questions are, how does one identify which model BMW the cam is for and how does one
determine if the magneto and coil are in good useable condition?
Any help appreciated.

camshaft identification & magneto testing
Re: camshaft identification & magneto testing
hallo,
coil is easy, between the 2 brassscrews (for the ignitioncables) you must have(around)13000 ohm and between the red/black solo cable and the metalbody of the coil( these square things at both sides) 7 ohm(I hope in english ohm is the same as in german=electric resistance))
Magneto testing is difficult enough, if you have the right equipment(I think you haven"t).
Camshaft: the hubs for the/2 is thicker than for the former models, the R68+R69 is longer(because of the third bearing(lager)),for the/S models the hubs(Nocken) are wider, because their ventils opened longer.
My english is not good enough for special words,if you have questions to some of my words, write again.
