This is interesting! My first thought was that something was opening up when the engin got hot; a crack somewhere maybe in the heads or cylanders but that would probably make a noise. But the valve thing is great!

I had a similar problem and found that a defective coil was the answer. Coil testing did not show up as bad but replacing the coil immediately solved the problem.
