I am taking my 1966 R50 apart to clean the slingers. I noted that the bronze bearing in the connecting rod that the piston wrist pin goes through moves freely forward and back through the connecting rod. There is a lubrication hole in the bearing that should line up with the hole in the rod. Should the bearing be staked in place so it does not shift? If so how and where should it be fastened?

The bushings should not move in the rods. When I took my pins out, the bushings came out with them. I had Ed Korn replace them. He sells new bushings and rents a tool to install them. Check out:
