R51/2 Wiring

I am nearing completion of a rebuild of a R51/2. There was no wiring to follow, so I am having to start from scratch. I have a diagram and have obtained a new main switch. My problem is that the numbers on the switch and the diagram are different in a few instances. e.g. 57 on diagram, no 57 on switch etc. Can one of you experts out there help?

Mr. Kilpert ,
I recently did a rewiring on a 1956 R60 using an R60/2 schematic. I found that the /2 wiring scheme had two fewer wires than its predecessor. What I found extremely helpful was an article at Craig Vechorik's website in which he reveals that the numbers found on the German wiring schemes are standardized through out the industry. To solve my problems I took the known variable (i.e. the switch number ) and identified its function. I then worked back from the headlight to the component with an ohm meter to test it. The descrption on the standardized list for # 57 is "terminal from the lighting swich or switch box through the fuse to the parking light" the alternate descrption is "terminal from the switch through the broad beam head lamp (fog lamp). In real terms this may translate to having your plastic key turned to the left where it will engage the ignition and parking lights. Hope this has been of some use to you. If not contact me directly and I will send you the URL's of places in the US that may provide a better answer
