R25 Pin Strips

Post by Don McGuire »

Does anyone know the thickness ( mm or in.) of the pin strips and space between,
on the tank and fenders of a R25/3.
Thanks, Don
Karl

Hallo Don,

(english text below)

Viele Gruesse,

Karl

PS.: Besuch doch mal meine R25-Seite:

Hi Don,

(sorry for my poor english)

I have a R 25 and had this problem, too. Someone told me, that the pin strips should be with these measures:

Thick strip: 5 mm
Thin strip: 1,5 mm

The gap between them: 4 mm

The restauration of my R 25 is going on slowly, so I am not yet at the poit of making this strips (I think I will make it in the next 1 or 2 months).

With best regards,

Karl

Hello Don

The tank of my r25/3 has been painted about one hundred times and in just about as many colors.
However I did manage to "dig down" to the original coat and I believe some of the original pin striping.

The measurements I have on this tank are as follows

Thick line 5mm
The gap between 4mm
Thin line 1.5mm

So these figures agree with Karls

From an old Tips response, I saved this, which agrees with what Ben and Karl found:

The official pinstripe layout decided by Mr. Huggett with BMW in Munich is as follows:
Wide line: 5mm
Narrow line: 1,5mm
Distance between the two lines: 4mm
