Deutsch am Ende der Nachricht
Hi, I recently bought a speedometer on a veteran market. It is a VDO type, ivory / black, range 0 - 180 km/h and gaer 1.0. Does anybody know, for which bike this speedo has been made for?
As far as I know, there have been 3 bikes that were ranged to 180 km/h: R 68, R 69 and R50S. The first one had a Veigel type (white/black painted), and the Earles Fork ones were geared 0,75. Can anybody help me?
Thanks, Thomas

Hallo!

Thomas

Thomas...is there any date on the rear surface of the case? Is this a very early VDO, made just after the takeover of Veigel by VDO? The ratio is sidecar specific, but that must be one fast sidecar! Could it be from a rennmachine?...SA

Thomas,

Was this a new unused speedo with VDO and BMW on the face? Is the face concave?

We produce the VDO and Veigel speedometers with the permission of VDO exclusively for BMW Mobile Tradition. During the development stage of these speedo's, we had a batch of prototypes produced with 0-180 W=1.00 in error. They should have been 0-160. Some of these went to BMW and VDO for testing. It is possible that one of these test prototypes from our production found its way to a flee market.

Would like to hear your reply.

Best regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,
Gruss, Thomas
