Piston Choices

I need replacement pistons for my 1937 R6 and have been told that N.O.S. pistons would be best to use.
Alternatively, Arias Forged Pistons are available at a reasonable price and Mahle Cast Pistons are available at a not so reasonable price.
Any opinions or suggestions about which would work best would be appreciated.

Hi John,
If you get in a jam and can't find anything else, you might try JP pistons. They custom make pistons for anything. I've used their pistons in Honda road-racing engines and british race car engines. Try www. jp.com.au/JPPistons.html. If the URL doesn't come through, e-mail directly.
Regards, Dave

Be very carefull!!
I installed JP Pistons in my R60/2 and after 5000 miles the circlips rattled out causing gudgeons to rub against cylinders. Very messy and very expensive.
JP Pistons should only be used after an absolute last resort. The expansion coefficient is about twice that of standard Nural and piston rings are so hard that very aggresive hone is required. Bedding in takes about 3000 miles if at all.
