Proper Tail Light for R51/2

I have a 1950 R51/2 originally imported into the US. The bike has been fitted with the 1953-55 Eber tail light with brake light lens.
Can someone tell me what tail light originally came on this machine? Was it the single lens Hella or single lens Eber tail light? Did the wiring come in from behind the tail light (through the fender) or did it come into the side of the tail light can? The wiring harness now follows along the outside of the fender up to the last hole, through which the wire goes to the underside of the fender and through the back of the tail light.

Thanks for the help.

Hallo Ron,
I don`t know the (is there a difference?) between Hella and Bosch rearlights of this period.
For the 51/2 the wire comes into the side of the light. The glasslensdiameter is 47mm (instead of 51mm in 1952)
I canĀ“t install a picture but you can watch it at

You have to search a little bit but it is an interesting site (by the way).
greetings

Hi Ron,

When you find the correct tail light, let me know if you decide to sell the brake light lens one, as I would like one for my '54 R51/3. Thanks.
