1954 R51/3

I am returning a sidecar bike to a solo. I am going to order the longer solo front springs, but I also noticed in the parts book that there are also solo brackets above and below the springs that are different than for the sidecar. How important is it to replace these? Do they compensate for the longer spring, or perhaps for the different spring diameter? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a 1954 full hub R51/3 set up for solo that would like sidecar? I have the 32/7 rear drive, the rear springs, the front springs, and the front shock brackets that I would like to trade for solo 35/9, etc.

Hallo Steven,
it depends of the different diameter of the springs, because the springs must be fixed like a srew on these brackets, so these brackets had another "thread" than for solosprings.

Hello Steven, Yes Rolf is correct it,s because of the different diameter spring material, if you put solo springs on in place of sidecar one,s they will be too loose to use. Regards Geoff in OZ.
