Replacement Shocks for /2

I'm interested in replacing the ENTIRE front shock assembly on my /2, not just the cartridge. I'd like to use a modern, lighter shock assembly as the project bike will be a cafe racer.

Does anyone know what will work. The stock set-up with it's huge cast aluminum silent eyes and dust covers is too heavy. While the dust covers can come off, I'd like to avoid the trouble of having to drill/mill the silent eyes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check this website: www.worksperformance.com/

They manufacture replacement gas shocks for many bikes.
They probably won't have your shock listed by model,
but they should be able to advise you if you can provide
dimensions, bike weight, etc. Good luck! I'd like to
build a BMW cafe racer myself.
