I have a BMW R/51 with a 51/3 or R68 engine. Is it possible to put Oeral/Dnepr K65 carbs on this engine ??? Does this work ???
Thanks, Richard
Need advise on Carbs
Re: Need advise on Carbs
Hi Richard,
Why do you want to fit non-standard carbs?
To be quite honest fitting any non standard carbs to these engines is simply not worth the hassle. BMW chose Bings for a very good reason - they best serve their engines. Although simple in design, Bings will produce the best performance from each of the engines you mention.
Best wishes,
Gerry

Re: Need advise on Carbs
I'm surprised you are not sure what engine you have installed in your R51 frame! However...
Why ruin a quality bike with third-rate carbs? The Bings fitted as OE are the best you can get, with each type being specifically matched to the engine by the factory. Look out for appropriate Bings and you won't go wrong. S/H Bings are plentiful, just let us know what engine you have and we'll advise you.
