Parts Questions

Is the "bread loaf " seat 52 53 7 002 032 the type of seat that attaches directly to the
fender, or is the kind that attaches to the fender rack, or is it a swinging pillion type
used on the R68, 69, 50S and 69S?.

Also, will the reinforcement bow 52 53 7 002 032 fit on a /2? The US importer, Butler and Smith, use to sell an item like this which would fit. I was wondering if this item was one and the same.

Your help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

J. Stracco

Hi Jeff.

The "bread loaf " seat 52 53 7 002 032 is the leather cushion that is pivoted on the rear of the drivers saddle and rests directly on the rear mudguard. There are photos of it in the BMW Mobile Tradition brochure that I sent you with the R50 sports mudguard. We supply this part to BMW which we manufactured according to original factory drawings and sample. We actually made it better, giving it a stainless steel frame and covering it with calfs hide. The underside is buffalo leather and it is hand stitched.

The reinforcement bow 52 53 5 096 260 was supplied by BMW as an accessory for the R68 only though it fitted on all twins between and including R51 - R68. Only Schorsch Meier supplied a similar for the BMW model range R50 to R69S and therefore it has no BMW part number. That is why we have designated it as 52 53 5 096 260.1 (not loaded on the server yet!) we have all these items in stock.

Best regards,

Mark
