Engine oil for R25/2

I rebuilt the engine of my new restored R25/2.
Manuals suggest SAE 40 oil for it.
Now unigrade engine oil is no more available in Italy.
I would use a mineral multigrade 20-40 or 15-50.
It is right ? Any suggestion about the better type ?
Thank in advance for any help
Ettore

SAE 40 is available in the US from Castrol, Pennzoil, Chevron and maybe two other manufacturers.

I also use 20W-50 but only in API (American Petroleum Institute) Grade SG, which contains metallic extreme pressure additives. Such oil is made by Spectro Oils, and bottled under their brand and also as BMW oil. Castrol also makes a 20W-50 Grade SG oil, called 4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil.

Any other 20W-50 oil will probably not be Grade SG. In the more modern grades, the metallic additives were removed to extend the life of catalytic converters.
