/2 12v convesion

I have a 67 r60/2 and would like to convert to
12v. I would like to hear from anyone who has been useing the MZ-B system for a while.
I am looking for a very reliable system.

The MZ-B system not only converts to 12V by replacing the generator, it also converts to electronic ignition by replacing the magneto and coil and points. It costs about $350 and works well, but it has poor instructions and is very difficult and time-consuming to install. People say it takes a couple of days to figure out the instructions and install the system.

My R60/2 had a charging system problem that new regulator did not cure, so I suspected the generator was bad. My advance and coil were working well, and I liked their simplicity, so I wanted to keep the magneto ignition system. I am also not good electrically, so I was afraid to install the MZ-B system.

So I bought the 12V "slap-on" generator from Bench Mark Works in the US. I think it is made by Emerald Island in Taiwan. It cost $575, but has good instructions, is very simple, and only took 1/2 hour to install.

Of course, both kits require extra cost to replace the battery and the bulbs.

If you would like a detailed comparison of the two conversion kits, I can email it to you. I think this comparison would be too long and boring to post here.

I should add that it also replaces the mechanical centrifugal advance. The advance function is programmed electronically.
