On my R26 there is only one notch on the float needle. I added another as an experiment but went back to the original.

I will measure it later and let you know.

If you don't get an answer here, the Mono Club yahoogroup has 300 single cylinder members, many of them R26 owners, who may know the answer.

May be the most simply way to obtain the rigth level it's puttint new 11 gr. floater inside with the right one possition needle.
Many times the floater has been changed by 7 gr's Bings. But those give a very low gas level.
The 11 gr. gives the perfect level.
Or may be the floter have gas or water inside. Check it shakeing, it must not sound
