I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Can anyone direct me to someone with bikes from the 50's or 60's in need of restoration. I'd like to find a project to restore. Thanks Max

Although your subject and message speak of wanting multiple bikes with make, model and year unspecified, you probably only want one bike, a BMW, for yourself to restore.

BMWs of all years in need of restoration, often on the West Coast, frequently appear on these sites:
eBay
IBMWR Marketplace
Vintage BMW Owners Classifieds

There is a Vintage BMW meet on Oct 4th at Lake San Antonio - about 2 hours south of you. For details contact me or Tom Weiss at

I might suggest that Mr. Lieber contact Mark Darwin, at Darwin Motors in SF. He may have a restorable bike for sale, or leads, as his shop specializes in /2s. Incidentally, I saw nothing ambiguous about the language of his query; and thought the response of Mr. Atherton snide.

Are you the same Max Leiber that makes fine art furniture? Please let me know a phone number I can contact you with.
