Locking gas cap restoration

Mark,

I am trying to restore my R69S gas cap (has a 15mm diameter BMW logo stamped on it at 12 o'clock). Unfortunately, there is a part in the keyway that is missing so I need to change the complete barrel. Is it still possible to get parts for these locking gas caps? If not is there a cutaway drawing of the parts that make up the assembly? If I knew what this piece is supposed to look like I think I could probably make one and or modify an existing part on another similar lock to fit this one.

Hi Pierre,

Sorry, but I cannot help you on that issue. I hav'nt even got any second hand or used original caps such as you described to look at.

By the way, your goods left this morning by Priority post. You might receive them by Friday.
Best regards,

Mark

In China they still build the R71. I just bought a locking cap from them that may be similar to the original type. You can contact them at their site by searching "Chang Jaing". they have many interesting parts available at very good prices. Bri
