3.5/4.0 mm ss spokes

Mark,
Unless my vernier calliper needs calibration, the spokes you sent me are 3,5 mm and not 4.0 mm. They are the same diameter and use the same nipples as the originals I have!

Hello Pierre.
The spokes and nipples that we sent you were M4. In that case your originals are also M4 but you told us that they are M3,5.
You are probably measuring them incorrestly as the thread on a spoke is "rolled" on causing it to stand proud. E.g. a spoke with a 3mm diameter has a thread rolled on, increasing the diameter on the threaded part to 3,35mm or M3,5.
An M4 spoke is a 3,5mm wire with rolled thread giving a diameter of 3,75mm or M4
Best regards,
Mark

Mark,
Thanks for the lesson on spokes. All I can say is that I was measuring the spoke diameter correctly and did not know that one must measure the rounded-off outside threaded diameter when refering to latter. This is just as crude as getting a 2 x 4 at the lumber yard! #@%&**

Pierre

Don't feel bad Pierre, I learned the same lesson about a year ago.
I had a set of nice stainless spokes and just needed new nipples.
It took several tries to get the right ones. Unfortunately I didn't
about Mark's company then, and the company I was dealing with wouldn't
do an exchange.
Regards, Dave
