R75/5 front shocks

Does anyone know the signs or symptoms of front shock or spring trouble? What does it mean or what is needed if the front forks bottom-out (clunk) when fully extended on center stand or when riding over a bump...? It feels like metal to metal when the front wheel relaxes to the bottom (fully extended)

You don't say anything about the seals or the oil. It sounds like the oil could be low. No way to check the oil, so you have to just change the oil and put the right amount back into the forks.
