front brake connection

i am having some problems attaching the cable to the front brake of my r26. the cable has a cylinderical bead at the end of the cable to secure it to the brake, but it doesnt fit through the adjusting screw, number 34 11 2060121. i know that the cable must pass through this "screw" and the brake holder itself, but the cable cannot fit.
the adjusting crew has a crevasse in it, through which the cable goes, but it is enclosed at one end.
what have other people done?

Hi David

You've got me confused! What do you mean by the adjusting screw 34 11 2 060 121 is closed at one end? This adjusting screw is a brass forging, and should be slit from top to bottom so that you can "lay" the brake cable into it. Is this not the case with your R26? If not, maybe you have the incorrect adjusting screw?

thanks for the response. the adjusting screw i have is partially closed at one end, though it is the correct piece. i dont know why it was made this way, as it seems it was manufactured incorrectly. i received my r26 without a front brake cable, so i have no comparisons to make.
i guess i will just file the piece so that the slit runs the entire length.
