still trying to connect brakes...

yes, im still trying! with my brake cable, do i just lead it through the adjusting screw, or do i some how connect it within the crew?
it is unclear to me how the cable "catches" the adjusting screw, as it needs to do more than just lay within it.
additionally, how does the throttle cable connect to a) within the carb, and b) to the handle bar. the handle grip i have from magura is only rubber, and does not have the teeth that the last grips had. do i need to retro-fit the inside of that grip to the new one.
whew, and thanks!
mfg, david.

Hi David,
Sounds like you might need to get hold of a parts book that shows exploded views and part numbers, then order some parts. Email me for some details, if you need.

David,

On the front brake, start with the brake end of the cable, with the long, stepped, swedged-on end. This end fits into the lugs on the brake backing plate. Gently tap in in so it fits snug. Then take the machined barrel that fits through the brake arm, and simultaneously fit the barrel into the arm and over the cable. Then install the brass adjuster over the cable and into the barrel. Thread it all the way in. The outer sheath of the cable fits into the end of the adjuster. Route the cable properly and fit the lever end. Run the adjuster and lock ring all the way in and fit the round barrel-shape end of the cable into the lever and pull the outer sheath into place into the adjuster. Then adjust the free play, starting with the brake end.

For your throttle, you need to cut the old grip off the tube/gear and fit the new grip onto the old tube. Clean any rust, etc. off the old tube and wet everything down with soapy water to slide the new grip on. On the carburetor end, unscrew the top ring off the carb, remove the top, and carefully remove the slide. There's a long spring in there too. Screw the adjuster all the way into the top, fit the end of the cable through the top and seat the outer sheath in to the adjuster, slide the spring over the cable, and fit the cable end through the slide and let it drop into the recess. Then reassemble everything and adjust the cable at the carb end.

Regards,

Dave
