R26 starting problem

Hello. I have had no end of trouble with my R26 since I`ve had it. It`s very difficult to start. Sometimes it will start fine and the next day it won`t start at all. The electrics are perfect. I`ve had a carby on it from an R60/5 and at first it started and ran ok then it wouldn`t start at all. I sent it to a BMW expert and he had the same trouble. One day it would start then not at all. I believe some people have put an early Japanese Mikuni carby on their bikes, can anyone tell me from what model bike and what type of carby it is. If that doesn`t work then I`ll set a fire under it

hallo Steve,
why you don`t use a original carb?
Normaly ,a R26 has no starting problems.

My R27 had an older R26 carb on it when I purchased the bike. I had countinues flooding and starting problems. I have since installed a Bing Type 53. Starting and gas milage are much better now.
Spend the $$$ for a new carb !
