ISDTexhaust/hand shift lever length

For plunger frame twin motorcycles using an ISDT exhaust system, typically an R68, was there a shorter length hand shift lever such that the ball on the top of the lever did not hit the bottom surface of the exhaust as can be the case with the standard length lever.
