Handlebar controls, tiny triangular piece goes..?

Post by Randy Fischer »

Hi Mark,

When I took the controls off to replace the bars on my r69s and stuck all the parts in plastic baggies I thought.." that little triangular shaped piece is so unique, I won't forget where it goes" ...well.....the memory ain't what it used to be! The Clymer manual for bmw twins doesn't show enough detail, can you help jog my gray matter?

Thanks,
Randy

If I remember correctly it fits on the front edge of the controls, on the inside, against the bar. The side with the levers.
However, when I reinstalled my handle bars three years ago, I couldn't figure out HOW to get it in there to stay,
so I left it out. After using the bike for an entire year, I noticed the controls had tilted forward a little....
but maybe they would have done that anyway. My solution was to tilt them back again.

Of course, maybe I don't remember correctly!

Yes, it goes inside the hole, on the inside end of the control,
just above the screw that tightens the control to the bar. There's
a little space in there that it drops in to. The grppved side faces the handlebar.
