Main Stand (ständer) R26
Hi BMW Drivers,
I am restoring an R26 and for me it is impossible to put the bike on main stand !!
Even with some it is difficult.
Have you hade this problem ? Or is the stand bending with the age (R26 from 1956).

The machine is heavy to put into center stand. Perhaps you needs some help and a
little practice to be able to lift at the same time pulling backward on the
bike. You must have a good grip on the frame member just before the rear shocks.
I hope this helps.

I have been unable to “lift” my bikes onto their center stands since I hurt my back doing it in 1971. After the operation on the disc, I learned to roll the bikes onto their center stands without using my hands for lifting.
The technique only requires that a passenger footpeg be installed on the left side. Step on center stand with the right foot, and rest the side of the lower right calf against the passenger footpeg. If the footpeg is not already close to the calf, then rotate the footpeg until it is. While stepping on the center stand, rock your right leg back against the footpeg towards the rear of the bike. The bike will roll effortlessly back and up onto the center stand. To steady the handlebars during this motion, put your left hand on the left grip. To steady yourself, press your right fingertips on the seat. This is such a powerful technique that it can be done in slow motion and paused halfway up.
There is a similar technique for getting the bike off the center stand without pushing. Place hands on the grips. Step on the tang of the center stand with the right foot, and rest the shin against the rider footpeg. Rock the leg forward while holding the brake to control the descent. Again, this so effortless and controllable that it can be done very slowly and paused halfway down.
