New life for everbest pecocks

I have had to replace 3 everbest petcocks in the last 5 years. The problem was always the same; the cork packing leaking. I was under the impression that disassembly is not possible and I sacrificed one of the older ones just to see how things were inside and sure enough, the cork had dried out. Remembering my days of bottling wine, (I recalled that the wine bottle corks were always boiled before corking the wine). So I boiled all my old petcocks for about 20 minutes and voila! they are all as good as new - look good too!

That's a great tip. If the cork is too deteriorated to be reconstituted by boiling, these people offer rebuilding:
