R25/3 rear seal

I am about to assemble my engine.Can I fit the rear seal (for flywheel) before
heating the engine case to 100 degrees centigrade and fitting the crankshaft ?
It looks as if it will be easier to fit the seal first as there is no lip to stop the seal going in crooked or too deep and if it does I can always tap it back out.
