Oil leakage, gear box R 26.

Hi, mechanic friends,

Three months ago, I replaced the oil seal of the INPUT shaft of the gear box of a R 26.The dimensions were: 40 30 10

40 mm housing in the alu casting.

30 mm to match the size of the shaft.

10 mm for the thickness

The problem of oil leakage was not solved.

I checked a second time and the error was the size of the shaft 29,5 mm instead of 30 mm.

The oil seal with the dimensions 40 29 10 is not a standard.

I only have the choice to install a oil seal with 40 28 10.

I am waiting for your comments and suggestions, thanks in advance.

André.

Hi Andre

The reason why the new oil seal still leaks is because the collar on the input drive shaft is worn if it measures 29,5mm. The collar should then be replaced. The part number is 21 52 1 020 140.

If you don't already have one, we would highly recommend that you order an original BMW parts catalogue with all the exploded diagrams, part numbers and descriptions. Part number is 01 09 9 099 161.

Best regards,
