Earles special colors

I have recently come across an original 1966 R50/2 for sale that was factory painted a light gray-green with white pinstripping. The bike has a sport-tank, US bars with turn-signals, wide bench seat, MPH speedo and steel rims. In other words outfitted like many late Earles bikes sold in the US.

The bike was painted at BMW and shows the color inside the headlight shell. Does anyone have a clue regarding colors origin? I am confused because of the US specifications and the European like utilitarian finish. The pale green color is very similar to the Moto Guzzi Polizia V700.

Thanks

Hi Jeff,
The German edition of the owner's manual for the twins of the 1960ties lists white, grey-green and green as special colors.

Jeff - if you look at John Lacko's site at www.beemergarage.com/ he has a picture of a bike in the colour you describe, apparently as an original import to the US
