Touring Europe

Hello
I'm from Australia and I am interested in buying a BMW in Europe and touring for 6 months then returning to Australia with the bike. Does anyone have information I might require. (ie. are there special requirements of the bike for Australia (emission controls)?, what type of licence I need in Europe?, is it easy to travel from one country to another in Europe?, etc)

Cheers

G'day, I don't know about the requirements to return a bike to AUS. But you should have no trouble driving in Europe on an Australian license, but you may wish to apply for an international driving license before leaving, in case it is lost or stolen during your trip. It's no trouble to travel from one EU country to the next. In fact in Schengen Agreement countries, there are no more bourder controls (France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy...) It's only more difficult due to insurance reasons to go to Easten Europe, also Austria has special insurance needs. Let me know if I can help further. Kirk
