Re: How to test a /5 transmission
Oh boy. I learned a good lesson here. I should have started at the back, and worked my way forward. I took the rear wheel off today, and the spline unit on the hub that is held on by 10 rivets sheared all 10 rivets! Probably could have saved a lot of time and heartache by pulling the rear wheel firs...

Re: How to test a /5 transmission
Sorry, I didn't finish the post - does it look like there's a transmission problem? How can I test the transmission, other than what I mentioned above?

How to test a /5 transmission
Follow up to my post about the clutch. I was riding at about 50 mph, when it felt like the cluch was completely slipping. I could put the bike in any gear, and I could feel the "clunk", heard no clatter, but not forward motion. At a dead stop, with motor off, I would put the bike in 1st ge...

I went on the first major ride of the season, and after 50 miles or so, it felt like the clutch suddenly engaged; I had no forward power, but the motor was still running. I thought maybe I cooked 4th gear, so I downshifted into 3rd. Still nothing. Coasted to a stop. Gearshift clicks into all gears, ...

Hard Starting R75/5
Picked up a '73 R75/5 with a Dyna electronic ignition. I put in new gel battery, all connections to the battery and the Ground seems OK; I press the starter button, and sometimes the bike turns over, and sometimes not. When it doesn't, it is as if the bike is dead; it also seems to happen only when ...

R75/5 fork leak from top cap
This seems to be a problem on the 3 R75/5 MCs that I have owned; There is always a small leak from the top fork cap; after a day's riding, there's a fine mist of fork oil around that area of the fork. It has a new gasket, with no change. Any Ideas?
