plunger covers

I have a Question re the plunger rear end how do you stop the lower spring cover from slopping around like an arm in a shirt sleeve, and therefore scraping on the top one. It has a larger hole that the mounting boss . In my R51/2 parts book it shows some kind of washer or gasket under the cover but there is no part No. and no description. In the 51/3 parts book it is omitted altogeather .Regards Peter

There is a small washer under the rubber block it has an i.d. the same as the step down on the spindle.
