Rear Shock removal-R26
Rear Shock removal-R26
The aluminum cap on the rear shocks for my R26 will not come off. Instead of unskrewing it just keeps turning. Can anybody help?
Re: Rear Shock removal-R26
Hi Darryl
Try protecting all the surroundings of the cap with heat resistant material so that you can heat up the cap to about 250°C with a hot air blower. Get some body to help you so that they can locate a punch in one of the holes in the cap and give it a swipe with a hammer at your command at the correct moment. If that does not work, It will be difficult to remove the cap with out damaging it: If you do damage it, they are rather inexpensive at CHF 24.50.
Remember to put copperslip on the thread before fitting the aluminium cap again.
Best regards,
Mark
