On my 1976 R75 there are 2 stands.
The side stand piviots on a stud that mounts to a flange welded to the bike's frame.
There is excess wear in the stand's piviot which allows the stand to flap around hitting the L. muffler at different places when up and clangs about on ever bump in the road. Also the bike leans far to much over with the stand down.
I greased the piviot nipple but that is like slaming the barn door shut after the horse has run away, useless at this point.
What am I looking at to repair this situation.

Hi Fred,
The stud or pivot that you mentioned is a regular problem which is repaired by every official BMW workshop. BMW sell a replacement pivot under the part number 46 51 1 231 233. The old pivot is drilled, the new one put in its place and welded.
