Original Hubcap Finish on 1954 - R51/3

Does anyone know the original Hubcap finish of the full hub versions of plunger bikes? The new hubcap I ordered looks like it is spun aluminum, I'm guessing either it should be painted silver or polished. Or maybe they were just pressed aluminum unpolished. Thanks...

The original hubcaps where pressed in either steel sheet or aluminium depending upon supplier. Both are original. After market are all spun in aluminium as it is cheaper and less complicated considering the small production runs. Original finish was matt metalic aluminium silver paint though todays market prefers a clear gloss coat over the silver paint.
