Will a 1955-69 BMW motorcycle start with just the battery wired to the generator, and the generator to the spark plug?

The twins have magneto ignition and will stat with a dead battery, or with the battery removed and the battery wires connected to each other. I am not sure if that is your question, or if you are proposing to change the wiring of bike in some way.
