Regarding my Connecting rod querry concerning weight mismatch, I was given information from a source that BMW tolerate + or- 3 grams difference between connecting rod weights.....is this correct?

This tolerance is very possible, though I cannot confirm and neither can BMW today. BMW also had fairly large tolerances e.g. flywheel. You must be able to imagine what realistic tolerances are in mass production. If they are too tight, it causes bottle necks and production becomes too expensive.
On our own motors and crank shafts, we work on much tighter tolerance e.g. to one tenth of a gram, but there again, we are nuts!
