Resistorless Sparkplug Caps

Post by J. Stracco »

I'm looking for original resistorless sparkplug caps for a /2 or a reasonable facimile of them.
After 1967 BMW switched to a 1000ohm resistor type cap like the ones used on a /5 or
/6.I believe Beru, among others, manufactured them. This might not be much help though,
in identification because Beru also manufactured the later type.

If anyone has a working set in their parts bin that they know to be resistorless,
let me know.

I think Mark has what you're looking for. Try part number 12 12 1 353 604.1,
Spark plug cap "Bosch" R24-R69S (original), 19.00 CHF. That should be a resistorless cap.
If that doesn't work try Craig Vechorick at http://members.aol.com/VechBMW/index.html
He had some resistorless caps for a while and he may still have some; they were $14.00 US

I put one on my R26, replacing the 1000-ohm resistor cap, and it definitely improved
the starting. Went from 4 or 5 kicks to 1 or 2 on a cold engine.
