Engine conversions in Earles frames

I am an Alfa Romeo enthusiast, and also one foe Earles fork BMW's. Has anyone any knowledge of installing a 4 cylinder boxer Alfasud engine in an Earles frame? I've seen a VW beetle engine installed, but the frame had to be butchered, by severe widening, to accomodate it. Any details of Alfasud installation, or even Citroen GS, much appreciated.
