I've noticed that period drawings of the 1937 R6 show a painted silver wheel with a black stripe
down the center.
Does anyone know if this paint scheme was ever used on the production R6's?
Thanks.

Paint scheme on a 1937 R6 wheels
Re: Paint scheme on a 1937 R6 wheels
I have restored a number of pre-war BMWs including a couple of R5s.
I have seen both black /silver rims and chromed rims. The trouble is catalogue illustrations tend to be ambiguous. It is quite feasible that BMW quoted chromed rims as an option with the R5/6 series. I say this as they were fitted with chromed silencers, whereas the R51-66 plunger framed models are always illustrated with black painted silencers. They were, of course, being produced at a time when chromium supplies were being diverted into the armaments sector.
